Neptune uses revolutionary Bone Conduction audio transmission to transmit crystal clear audio through the cheekbone directly into the inner ear. Details With 4GB of storage aquatic athletes can listen to music audio books podcasts and more all with incredible sound. The included charging cable also allows for quick song upload to the device. The 3-piece design has 2 side speakers and a high contrast OLED screen The screen sits comfortably on the back of the head and shows the song artist and play status for each use. Neptune attaches securely to goggle straps and rests on the cheekbones as to not interfere with swimming technique.Bone Bone Conduction? As humans we are able to detect sound vibrations through the air via our eardrums (Air Conduction) or through our bones directly into our inner ear (Bone Conduction). Because there is no air under the water Bone Conduction is the best way to hear audio while swimming. The speakers of the Neptune sit on the cheek just in front of the ear. These speakers vibrate the jaw bones and send vibrations to the inner-ear or Cochlea. The result is an amazing audio experience that makes it feel as if the music is playing inside your head. The ears are free and clear and there are no earbuds to mess with. Bone Conduction is a safe and proven method of sound transmission that has been used in phone headsets and hearing aids. In fact Bone Conduction audio is used by whales and dolphins to listen to one another underwater. Fun and Practical MP3 I do a lot of swimming, at least three times a week and spend one to two hours at the pool and it can get a bit monotonous, so I have had a waterproof MP3 before and it was a bit lack lustre; this was because of the ear phones which did not always work whilst under water. If you are the type of person who swims with their head out of the water then the ear phone type will probably be better for you rather than this `Finis Neptune MP3′. This has head phones that are like sound pads that you attach to your goggles and they play through your cheekbone straight into your inner ear.The MP3 part attaches to the back strap of your goggles and can be easily operated once you get the hang of it. There is also a play/pause button on the left ear piece which is more accessible. It is pretty lightweight too so there are no adverse effects to your swimming. The sound does vary and that is down to how you swim. If both ears are under water you get a very good sound reproduction, but not…

Best waterproof MP3 player I love my finis Neptune, its the formula 1 of waterproof MP3 players. I have to admit it is pricey but you do get what you pay for in this instance. I have tried other less expensive devices over the years but generally find the leads got tangled and the inear ‘headphones’ fail. I was forever stopping to adjust the inear headphones as water got into the ear rendering them useless. The controls were a nightmare to use and quite frankly I didn’t use them whilst swimming. I have no such trouble with the finis Neptune, there’s no ear pieces to fail, the leads are short so they dont get tangled, the controls easy to use even when attached to the back of the goggles. No more stopping to let the water out of the ear pieces leaving me to complete my swim without the constant stop start of previous players. The sound is great and is louder/clearer once you are in the water, the sensation is different which takes some getting used too but that only took a few lengths. Overall the…
